At Tanaka Kintsugi we offer compassionate, trauma-Informed therapy in Whitby, and across Ontario. We support you in healing emotional wounds, strengthening relationships, and rebuilding with intention and resilience.


We provide individual therapy for children, youth, and adults. We also provide couples therapy, family counselling, mentorship, critical incident debriefing, retreats, workshops, and faith-based healing spaces.

Yes, Tanaka Kintsugi offers secure online mental health therapy and counselling services for clients throughout Ontario. We also offer in-person therapy sessions at our conveniently located office in downtown Whitby, Ontario.


Tanaka is a word of Shona origin meaning "our lives have been made beautiful". Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold, highlighting beauty in imperfection.

At Tanaka Kintsugi (pronounced tah-nah-kah  kint-soo-gee) we believe that healing is not about erasing pain, but transforming it into strength, wisdom, and beauty.


In many cases, yes. Extended health benefit plans often cover psychotherapy and counselling. Receipts are provided for reimbursement. Coverage varies, it is best to check your individual plan for details.


For your convenience we accept credit card and e-transfer payments. 


Standard therapy sessions are 50 minutes. We also offer shorter 30-minute check-in sessions for existing clients who are looking to maintain progress and stay connected.


Yes. We use secure, encrypted platforms designed to protect your confidentiality and personal information.


This depends on your goals and needs. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach. You can start at a pace that feels comfortable—whether that’s weekly, biweekly, or less frequent—and adjust anytime based on what you need.


No, you do not need a referral to see a therapist in Ontario. You can book a session directly with a registered therapist at any time. In rare cases, some insurance plans may require one for reimbursement, so it’s best to check with your provider.


Yes. You’ll be working with a licensed, registered therapist in Ontario who is qualified to provide safe, ethical, and evidence-based care. We’re also happy to help you understand how your therapist’s credentials align with your insurance coverage.


We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Late cancellations or missed appointments may be subject to a fee.
